7400 W McNichols located in the Fitzgerald/Marygrove neighborhood community, is a redevelopment project converting four existing storefronts along the McNichols business thoroughfare, into seven-thousand square foot of restaurant and retail space.  The new exterior façade presents a bold materiality with slate & black brick, dark perforated metal colonnades, and dark gray awnings.  With interiors inspired by Afrocentric design, the color palette has warm tones of brown and cream, juxtaposed with urban element such as brick and concrete. The cocktail bar, designed as the prominent feature within the space, uses bold African geometric shapes accentuated by ambient and decorative lighting.  The project also provides a new commercial kitchen, new restrooms, main floor and mezzanine dining areas, and a retail space with dedicated entry.  Dokes Design Architecture served as the architect and interior designer; and our team also collaborated closely with the City of Detroit to obtain TMSO approval.
